Meet Your Tribe: Q&A With THRIVE Regional Community Manager Taylor Hagan

Thrive Editorial

The THRIVE tribe is an eclectic and talented bunch, but it can be hard to get someone’s full story in a few water-cooler (or beer-fridge) conversations. So let us fill in the details for you.

The heart and soul of THRIVE are our Community Managers — ringleaders and ringmasters rolled into one. They are here to rock your world, simplify your life, restore your faith in humanity, and basically make your THRIVE experience a bowl of cherries. Minus the pits. And their grand poobah is Regional Community Manager Taylor Hagan, who trains and sets the tone for all our CMs. And he sets a high bar: Taylor was named 2022 US Community Manager of the Year by the Global Workspace Association.

Q: What’s your hometown?

A: Hmm, good question! I grew up right outside of Washington, DC, in Maryland.

Q: Dogs or cats?

A: Wait, is that a discussion? Definitely dogs!

Q: Cake or pie?

A: Yes.

Q: Most used app on your phone?

A: Zillow. One of my favorite ways to pass time!

Q: Sunrise or sunset?

A: Sunset. Sunrises start too early in the day.

The Global Workspace Association, an international community for coworking operators, presented Taylor with its US Community Manager of the Year Award for his exemplary hospitality.

Q: What’s your musical jam?

A: I appreciate and enjoy listening to all kinds of music.

Q: Whose autograph do you have?

A: My 9-year-old son’s. He’s been practicing recently.

Q: What’s your favorite comedy film?

A: Elf. “Have you seen these toilets? They’re GINORMOUS!” – Buddy

Q: Most prized possession?

A: This is a hard one for me. I don’t really place too much value on things or possessions. But I would have to say any fun item I have found at a thrift store. Once-loved items being loved again.

Q: What’s your super power or secret talent?

A: Perception. I can pretty quickly read someone or situations.

Q: What motto or saying resonates with you?

Love God. Love others.

Q: What book is on your nightstand?

My Bible.

Q: What excites you right now?

A: Family. I’m a family man and love spending any time I can with my wife and 3 kiddos! As a Regional Community Manager, I’m also really excited about the growth here at THRIVE. We have some amazing Community Managers already and as we open up other locations I’m excited to add to the fam!

Taylor and his family in Nepal.

Q: What skill does it take to be a great Community Manager?

A: Flexibility/balance. I put the “/” in there so I can say two things in one — they go hand-in-hand, really. Knowing when to drop what you’re doing to do something else for someone else.

Q: What’s the least obvious skill it takes to be a great Community Manager?

A: Love. Wait, is that a skill? When you’re helping someone directly or just doing mundane tasks around the space, you’re doing that because you love the community, not just because it’s your job.

Q: You wouldn’t know it to look at me, but …

A: I lived in Nepal for eight years running a coffee business. Namaste!
